Sage Tea (Marmiyeh)

Sage Tea (Marmiyeh)

Prep: 5 minutes
Steep: 5–7 minutes
Serves: 2

In the villages of Palestine, sage tea—marmiyeh—is a quiet ritual. Handpicked, sun-dried sage fills the home with warmth and calm. This is Darna’s village style: simple, honest, and soothing. Enjoy it classic with honey, bolder with black tea, or chilled and bright over ice.

Ingredients

Classic Hot Sage Tea

  • 2 cups water

  • 1 tablespoon Darna Sage (dried leaves)

  • 1 teaspoon honey, to taste (optional)

  • Optional: a slice of lemon or a small sprig of fresh mint

With Black Tea (Bolder)

  • 2 cups water

  • 1 teaspoon Darna Sage

  • 1 teaspoon loose black tea or 1 black tea bag

  • Honey or sugar, to taste

Iced Sage Tea (Refreshing)

  • Ice cubes

  • Lemon slices and fresh mint, for serving

Village Tips

  • Cover while steeping to keep the aromatic oils in your cup.

  • For a softer profile, blend in a few chamomile flowers.

  • Wild thyme or citrus blossom honey pairs beautifully with sage.

  • Brew a stronger concentrate (50% more sage) if you plan to serve over a lot of ice.

Allergens & Diet

Naturally vegan and caffeine-free (classic & iced). The black tea version contains caffeine.
