About Our Products

Where are Darna products made?
Every Darna product begins in the hills and valleys of Palestine, where our families have farmed for generations. Our olive oil, za’atar, sumac, sage, and other goods are all handpicked and sun-dried the old-fashioned way, preserving the pure taste of our land.
Are all your products from Palestine?
Yes — everything we sell comes directly from Palestinian farms and artisans, many in our family’s village of Wadi Fukin near Bethlehem. We work directly with small producers who still use traditional methods of farming and drying.
What makes Darna different?
We don’t just sell products — we share a piece of home. Our goods are grown naturally, sun-dried by hand, and packed in small batches to capture the authentic village flavor you can taste and feel.
Are your products handmade?
Most of them, yes. Our blends, like za’atar and spices, are hand-mixed in small quantities, while our olive oil is pressed in small batches at local mills using traditional village methods.
How do you ensure quality?
Each batch is carefully checked for freshness, aroma, and purity before being packed and shipped. Our products are handled with care — from the farmers in Palestine to our warehouse in New York.

Ingredients & Sourcing

Are your products organic or pesticide-free?
Many of our farmers use traditional organic practices, but our products are not certified organic yet. They are grown without chemicals, hand-harvested, and naturally sun-dried.
Do you add preservatives or artificial ingredients?
Never. All our products are 100% natural — no preservatives, fillers, or artificial colors.
Where do you source your olive oil and za’atar?
Our olive oil is pressed from Nabali and Rumi olives grown in Wadi Fukin and nearby villages. Our za’atar is hand-blended from wild thyme, roasted sesame seeds, sumac, and a touch of sea salt — a recipe passed down through generations.
Are your spices and herbs blended in Palestine or the U.S.?
All our herbs, spices, and blends are prepared in Palestine, then carefully packed in New York to ensure quality and freshness before reaching your table.

How should I store my olive oil and spices?
Keep olive oil in a cool, dark place away from sunlight — never in the fridge. Store spices, za’atar, and herbs in airtight containers away from humidity to maintain freshness and aroma.
How long do your products last?
Olive oil and za’atar: up to 18–24 months. Dried herbs and spices: typically ~12 months if stored properly.
Can I refrigerate or freeze your products?
Not necessary. Keep them sealed and away from heat or moisture.
What’s the best way to use your za’atar or sage?
  • Za’atar: Mix with olive oil for warm bread, sprinkle on salads, or season meats/vegetables.
  • Sage: Steep 3–5 minutes for traditional Palestinian meramiyyeh tea — perfect after meals.

Our Story & Values

What does “Darna” mean?
Darna” means our home in Arabic — a tribute to our family’s village, Wadi Fukin, and the Palestinian homes that inspire every jar, bottle, and pouch we share.
Why focus on Palestinian products?
Because food tells a story. Through every jar of za’atar or bottle of olive oil, we celebrate the land, people, and traditions of Palestine — keeping them alive for the next generation.
How does Darna support Palestinian farmers?
We work directly with small, independent farmers, paying fair prices and reinvesting profits back into their communities. Every purchase helps sustain Palestinian agriculture and preserve centuries-old traditions.
How can I learn more about Wadi Fukin and your heritage?
Visit our Village History page to discover the story of Wadi Fukin — a place where the olive trees are older than the village itself.
